Renew Church is a family of missionary servants seeking to embrace and embody the grace, renewal, hope and love of Jesus. More than anything else, we want to introduce our neighborhoods and cities to Jesus the King.
Their story of renewal:
1996. Room 42 of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Darris, a campus minister, read the Four Spiritual Laws upside down, holding the simple gospel truths out for the skeptical college student to read. In the miracle of a moment, Jeff Patterson was rescued by God’s amazing grace and began a life of learning what it means to follow Jesus. He quickly began devouring God’s Word, hungry for this life-changing truth, and desiring more and more to live a life submitted to the loving lordship of Christ.
A few years later, this Jeff would meet Kari Zyp, and it would be … NOT love at first sight. Though they worked together in ministry and became close friends, he broke her heart and it appeared their future would most certainly not include each other.
But God. He wove their hearts and stories together, graciously allowing them to join in marriage in 2003, and dive headlong into a life of serving Jesus in HIS Story. They moved 13 times, worked several jobs, finished seminary degrees, had two kids, experienced innumerable highs and lows, and are now thrilled to be settled down in Oregon City, leading the RENEW Church plant, and living in a century-old house.
Jeff is a learner. He thrives on studying, exploring, and digging into the unfathomable depths of God’s beautiful grace and truth (sharing intermittently at deTheos.us). He enjoys running up hills, Stumptown coffee, and creating weathered wood masterpieces from discarded pallets.
Kari is a writer/speaker and homeschool mama. She writes e-books, blogs at karipatterson.com and speaks at retreats and women’s events throughout the year. She enjoys sunshine, strong coffee, and her children’s morning breath.
Dutch (7) and Heidi (5) are ridiculous, naughty, delightful balls of fun. Jeff, Kari, Dutch & Heidi are all broken but blessed works in progress. They’d be thrilled to walk alongside you, following Jesus together. Thanks for reading.
